Samui Elephant Haven Sanctuary was the one of the first ethical sanctuary to open in Koh Samui, building a haven for these beautiful creatures.
Samui Elephant Haven Sanctuary since its opening on Koh Samui has seen a rapid growth in popularitytherfore enabling the sanctuary to rescue more elephants.
Samui Elephant Haven Sanctuary stretches across 60 rai of lush rolling hills and vibrant jungle in northern Koh Samui. This peaceful refuge is designed with the elephants’ needs in mind, featuring natural lakes, custom pools, and secure enclosures for restful recovery, calves, and socializing. At the Samui Elephant Haven sanctuary, they dont just provide a home; they give these gentle giants the space and dignity to live as naturally as possible.
Samui Elephant Haven Sanctuary offers a haven for elephants to walk around freely, eat, cool down, and play. There are no chains!
Each elephant has a unique working history. However, until they were older, the tourism industry used them for elephant riding, logging, and circus acts before sending them out for elephant trekking.
The elephants can find peace and live the rest of their lives free!

These beautiful creatures do not have a voice, so we want to be their voice by not tolerating the following points in our sanctuary:
No Riding, Just because elephants are huge elephants doesn’t mean they can carry heavy loads.
No Bathing, Elephants are not forced to bathe several times a day because it’s not in their nature.
No Entertaining, There is no forced entertainment for our visitors by elephants.
A 50% deposit is required to secure a booking, with the remaining balance payable in cash on the day. Samui Explorer is an agent for Samui Elephant Haven Sanctuary; therefore, the pricing and programs are the same.
NB: We are an agent only for Samui Elephant Haven Sanctuary; we do not take bookings and send our customers to a different sanctuary.
The program runs for 3 hours:
- Registration
- Watching safety video and introduction about our sanctuary
- Feeding elephants with various fruits and grass
- Making nutritious rice balls for the elephants
- Walking through the park to meet all our rescued elephants and hear their past stories
- Learning about the natural behavior of Asian elephants
- Meeting and learning about Asian elephant at different stages of life
- Enjoying a delicious vegetarian meal at the end of the tour
- Departure back to your resort
