Koh Mook, Trang Province

The restaurants and shops are colourful giving a beautiful backdrop with the sapphire blue waters of Koh Mook.
As you arrive into Koh Mook, at the pier instanstantly the fishing boats and longtail boats are seen.
Early morning its a great sight to see them arrive back with the catch of the day and throughout the day, working to prepare the next fishing trip. It can be a bit pongy at points but hey its real life on a tropical Island!

Beaches around Koh Mook
Koh Mook actually doesnt have many beaches that are easuliy asseable or good for relaxing or swinging. Some of the beaches are surrounded by mangrove, although lovely setting, not ideal for spending a day.
So much so some of them do not have names, the locals will quote the hotel name only.
Farang Beach / Charlie beach
By far the best beach is Farang Beach / Charlie beach they are the same place. There is a long story about why the beach has these two names. During the 90s a foreigner( Farang means Foreigners in Thai) built a resort named Charlies Hut. It started to become very popular and tourists started to visit Koh Mook however the National Park deemed it as the National Parks land and closed the resort down. This is why it has both names, but locals will know either is youre taking a taxi.
The beach has local food sellers and drinks, with umbrellas and tables but the coolest place to hang is at the Mong Bar – A super cool bar with lots of sunbeds to use if purchasing food and drinks.
See below Farang beach images and Mong Bar.
